Day 65: Atherton Tablelands - Cairns
This rain won't let up. The sky is grey, it is cold and wet and we are not having much fun here.
We went to a few crater lakes today. Firstly, Lake Eacham where we saw turtles in the very clear water. That was nice for five minutes.
Outrunning the rain we then went to Lake Barrine and had a delicious cooked breakfast at the tea house. We purchased six of their famous scones to take away, we would have bought more but the woman wouldn't let us in case there was a rush (we were the only people around for miles). Apparently yesterday was busy as people on the coast fled up the mountain to get away from the tsunami.The weather still had not changed when we left. I couldn't even persuade Oly to stop at the Cathedral Fig. I suppose once you have seen one evil strangler fig tree you have seen them all...
Henry is playing up again, it's really hard to get him into second gear (not something that is fun when you are pulling away at traffic lights) and he has started to judder. Oly is not amused and there has been talk of getting a Winnebago or even one of these snazzy solar powered eco Verdier vans when they come out, I would love it, how fabulous are they!It's back to Cairns and Toby. Let's hope it is nothing major or Henry will be fed to the goats.

Darwin's the way to go. Plenty of water up there. Going South is too dry until the drought breaks.
Poor Henry won't be able to have a wash if you go down the coast. I heard on the news tonight you can only use water on cars if it is to wash the bird 'you know what' off.
You take good care of him now. He will get all flustered if you keep up this talk about upgrading him. That's as bad as us almost leaving poor old Neumann in the wardrobe when we dashed up the hill on tsunami day.
Which ever way you go, stay safe and remember, you can always come home from wherever you are if you need to. XXX
The poll is good fun - but its a loaded question the way it is worded - noone wants to send you into the wet season to ("nowhere") after all the winging about the rain! samx
Tsk! If I had been smarter I would have put the Darwin as the first option to catch those Donkey Votes!
..on the subject of Henry - sometimes you just gotta let go ...
If he is at the end - give him a DIGNIFIED sending off - you never know he might give life to other adventurers and end up travelling those red roads forever.
Gee you could always set up a blog for the body parts so they could keep in contact with eachother.
You could always keep his badge and hang it from your rear view.
